INSIGHT: Five Reasons We're Excited for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix It's finale time!

It's finale time!

1. (Almost) Farewell W09

Abu Dhabi signals the curtain closing on a truly remarkable, topsy-turvy 2018 season. The chequered flag will fall on a spectacular year of racing, in which we were pushed to our absolute limits and emerged as Champions for the fifth time.

It marks the end of the competitive run for W09, a car that has faced tough competition, but earned its place as an iconic Silver Arrow - with 10 wins, 12 pole positions and 24 podiums achieved so far.

But, W09's battle under the floodlights this weekend won't be the car's last laps, as there's still a two-day test to complete on the Tuesday and Wednesday at the Yas Marina Circuit.

2. Rolling Out the Red Carpet

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix always brings the glitz and glamour, and this year will be no exception with some very familiar faces visiting our garage over the weekend.

You'll have to wait and see who those guests are, but we're pretty excited to welcome them to the team! Stay tuned on our social channels for more!

3. What a Show!

The Yas Marina Circuit always pull out all the stops to put on a spectacular show for the fans. This includes the end-of-day concerts and the list of performers for 2018 is pretty impressive...

Post Malone will be performing on Thursday evening, with The Weeknd then entertaining crowds after Friday's practice action.

Sam Smith is taking to the stage for Saturday's post-Quali show, while Guns N' Roses headline the Sunday stage after the race.

Access to the concerts is included in your ticket if you are at the race. Enjoy!

4. Championship Decider

The Formula One titles may have been decided, but there's still a Formula 2 champion to be crowned in Abu Dhabi!

Our reserve driver George Russell currently leads the standings by 37 points heading into the final weekend. Can he seal the deal and wrap up a memorable rookie F2 campaign?

He faces some tough opposition from rival Alexander Albon but sits in pole position to secure the F2 title and end his time in the series on a high before starting a new chapter in F1 with Williams in 2019.

Be sure to show your support for George over the weekend and cheer him on!

5. Farewell Fernando

There are plenty of changes to the 2019 Formula One grid, with drivers swapping teams and moving on to new challenges. But perhaps the biggest difference will be the absence of Fernando Alonso.

The Spaniard makes his F1 exit after a remarkable 17 seasons in the sport, during which he claimed two Drivers' Championships (in 2005 and 2006 with Renault), 32 wins, 22 pole positions and 97 podium finishes.

With Abu Dhabi being his last F1 race, the paddock will come together to celebrate the career of one of F1's greats this weekend. This includes a special BBQ in the F1 paddock for teams on Saturday evening.
