INSIGHT: Preparing for Launch - Wednesday The countdown clock moves f...

The countdown clock moves from days to hours as Mercedes completes the final arrangements ahead of Thursday's big reveal.

There's a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation on launch day

One day. 24 hours. The last chance to make modifications and finalise preparations for launch day - one of the biggest moments of the team's year, and it's only February! Excitement levels are increasing, but so is the pressure. It's not every day you launch a new Formula One car, after all.

The buzz and anticipation of a race weekend is hard to match, but launch day is something extra special. While the work never stops at Brackley and Brixworth over the winter 'break', there's a fresh and energised vibe. Everyone feels ready for the new season, new challenges and the opportunity to fight for the Championship trophies once again.

There's a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation on launch day. The hard work, sacrifices and long nights, will they be worth it? Will everything be okay during the shakedown? Will the launch all go to plan? Plenty of questions, and we don't have to wait too long to find out the answers.

Teamwear and Merchandise have continued to work through last-minute exchanges and tailoring requests on Wednesday, ahead of the launch day and pre-season tests. Everyone going to the launch and race events now has their kit, it's just making sure it all fits correctly...

Over at Silverstone, last minute checks and set up has been taking place. Although the bulk of preparations were completed over the weekend and the start of the week, everything has to be perfect. The team is determined to kick off the season in style and that's the aim for the Mercedes-AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+ reveal.

The British Grand Prix venue has been a constant buzz of activity this week, but it got a little noisier on Wednesday, with rehearsals for the unveiling live stream and Q&A sessions - making any last-minute modifications and checking everything's ready to go live on Thursday.

There were also recces for event staff, which this year includes two students from Silverstone's UTC, who are assisting on site. Marketing staff checked out the event spaces and Hospitality went over routes and locations at the track's impressive 'Wing'.

A few special deliveries also turned up at Silverstone... a fleet of AMG Performance and Hybrid cars, to be displayed and used out on track, and a new G-Class installed on the main roundabout. Just to let everyone know the team has officially arrived.

Looking around Silverstone's transformed pit and paddock complex, it hits home just how big a moment the car launch actually is. It's taken many, many months to build the new W09. Late nights, early mornings, stress and relief, excitement and worry, all to get it ready for the season ahead. And that starts with it being showcased to the world.

The drivers were back with the team on Wednesday, taking part in the annual collateral day at a studio nearby. They were being filmed and photographed for Mercedes' 2018 content, which included a very special shoot with Lewis and his three Championship-winning Silver Arrows. That's definitely something to keep an eye out for...

And it's almost time to unveil it! Are you ready? Because we are...

Speaking of cars, the build of the W09 neared completion on Wednesday, but the mechanics and engineers still face working through the night to get everything ready for the launch. Chassis, engine, rear suspension and bodywork had been the main areas of focus earlier in the week, but Wednesday was all about final bodywork fitting, rear suspension and driver seat fits.

The driver's seat doesn't typically get much attention, but it's a crucial element of any F1 car and is a high-tech piece of kit. It's custom made for the driver and adapted to their own preferences and feedback. Sometimes, tweaks may need to be made at the start of a new season, but other times might require no changes whatsoever.

F1's all in the detail. Thousands of separate components, coming together to build a car made up of thousands of separate components. A racing machine, representing the work and dedication of many. And it's almost time to unveil it! Are you ready? Because we are...
