The nominations for the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards are in!
Both Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have picked up nominations for the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards, which takes place in Monaco on 18 February.
We've been nominated for the Laureus World Team of the Year for the fifth year in a row, having won the category in 2018 - for our success in the previous season.
Once again, the list of nominees features some of the world's most impressive sports teams: FIFA World Cup-winning French Men's Football Team, the Real Madrid Football Team, NBA champions Golden State Warriors, the European Ryder Cup squad and Norway's Winter Olympic Team.
"We're very proud to be nominated for the Laureus World Team of the Year Award," said Team Principal & CEO, Toto Wolff.
"The 2018 Formula One campaign was our most challenging season yet and we were only able to defend both Championships because of the determination, passion and hard work of every single member of our team.
"It's great to see this kind of team work being recognised and we're honoured to be named alongside some of the greatest sport teams in the world."
Lewis once again features on the list of nominees for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, following on from his remarkable, Championship-winning 2018 campaign. He was also nominated for the category last year, when the award was won by tennis star Roger Federer.
French football player Kylian Mbappé and Croatian football player Luka Modrić, who starred in last year's FIFA World Cup, NBA legend Lebron James, tennis world No.1 Novak Djokovic and Eliud Kipchoge - who won both the Berlin and London marathons in 2018 - are the other potential award-winners in the category.
The nominations are chosen by a panel of leading sports editors, writers and broadcasters, with the winners then being selected by the Laureus World Sports Academy.
The 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards takes place in Monaco on 18 February, where the winners will be announced.
