Our Fast Finn visited Kuala Lumpur to take part and support the Orchid Run & Ride 2019 with PETRONAS.
Following on from his recent trip to the Pengerang Integrated Complex with PETRONAS last month, Valtteri was back in Malaysia for a very different visit last weekend.
On Sunday, he took part in the annual Orchid Run & Ride 2019. The event is organised by PETRONITA, the association for wives and female staff of PETRONAS, and is led by Puan Sri Dr Azura Ahmad Tajuddin, President of PETRONITA and the wife of Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, PETRONAS President and Group Chief Executive Officer.
2019 marked the 5th running of the event, with the theme 'Taking Steps to Energise Lives', and it raised over RM500,000 for charities - which include the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia, the Child Development and Rehabilitation Centre of the Women and Children Hospital Kuala Lumpur, 'Tabung PPUMCare' founded by University Malaya Medical Centre and the Mental Illness Awareness and Support Association.
The event featured a 12km run, 5km fun run and 5km fun ride. There was an incredible response to participate, with all categories being filled in July. 7,300 people took part across the three races.
Valtteri was there to show his support to participants, flagging off the races, handing out Orchids at the finish and meeting fans and beneficiaries of PETRONITA.
But he also put his trainers on and got involved in the running, too, completing the 5km fun run alongside participants.
"It's great to be back in Kuala Lumpur and helping out with the Orchid Run & Ride again, it's my second time taking part," Valtteri said. "Each year, the event gets bigger and bigger, which is fantastic to see.
"PETRONAS have been a great support to me and the team so helping out with the Orchid Run & Ride is a really good way of giving back to them, while also raising money and supporting some great causes."
