The story of Mercedes in Malaysia, so far…

  • A loose wheel nut caused Michael Schumacher to retire from the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix.

  • But there was better fortune for Nico Rosberg, who stood on the Sepang podium for the first time after crossing the line in third.

  • Schumacher picked up points in 2011 with a ninth-place finish.

  • It was a tough race for Rosberg, though, and he came home in 12th.

  • Schumacher qualified third for the 2012 race, but lost ground after an early spin, recovering to 10th.

  • Despite showing early promise, Rosberg slipped down the order and had to settle for 13th.

  • In only his second start for the Silver Arrows, Lewis Hamilton scored a podium at Sepang, finishing third in 2013.

  • Rosberg followed his team-mate across the line in fourth place.

  • Hamilton was in complete control throughout the 2014 race, taking a dominant victory.

  • The runner-up spot for Rosberg gave the team its first 1-2 finish of the season.

  • Hamilton pushed to the limit in the Malaysian heat, taking the chequered flag in second place in 2015.

  • Rosberg wasn’t too far behind in third place, with the Silver Arrows picking up a double-podium.

  • A dramatic engine failure forced Hamilton out of the 2016 Malaysian GP.

  • Rosberg rapidly turned things around, recovering from lap one contact to fight his way back onto the podium in third place.
