Toto Wolff says he is expecting Lewis Hamilton to bounce back next time out at Silverstone after a tough Austrian Grand Prix weekend.
Toto: 'Lewis had all the bad luck that you can have'
Lewis started from eighth after taking a five-place grid drop for an unscheduled gearbox change. The three-time World Champion fought his way back up to fourth, only narrowly missing out on a spot on the podium.
And despite a tough run of recent races in Baku and Spielberg, the Mercedes team boss expects the Brit's luck to change.
"In my opinion, Lewis had all the bad luck that you can have," said Toto. "We've let him down with the head rest, we've let him down with the gearbox and now it's time to fight back. Hopefully that's going to happen in Silverstone.
Toto: 'There are still so many points to collect'
"Generally, I feel that he didn't have a great time most recently. He didn't have a great time in the race because he was suffering from the car and from the tyres. He didn't have a great time with the gearbox troubles and with the headrest. It's about time that this changes, with the momentum going in the other direction.
"We had a chat after the race, trying to see the positives. It's 12 points won rather than six lost. I think, in hindsight, it was important to take those points even if for him it feels like a loss. With Ricciardo it could've been a collision and it could've been a much wider gap to Vettel.
"It can't go much worse than it has and still we are flat out in a fight. There are still so many points to collect. 11 races left, 275 points to score."
