After finishing in fifth place at the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday, Nico stayed on in the host city for Auto Shanghai, the leading motor show in Asia. The MERCEDES GP PETRONAS driver was invited to the show make a special presentation of the Mercedes-Benz SLK Roadster on Tuesday 19 April.
“Driving the new Roadster is incredible fun,” said Nico. The SLK, which is now on its third version, features the innovative panoramic Vario roof which switches between light and dark at the touch of a button.
In addition to the SLK Roadster, the new generation C-Class and the new CLS also made their Chinese debuts in Shanghai, while the Mercedes A-Class Concept had its world premiere. Amongst the technical highlights of the front-wheel drive concept vehicle are a new 155kW (210bhp) four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, dual-clutch transmission and a radar-based collision warning with adaptive Brake Assist.
China is one of the most important markets for Mercedes-Benz. In 2010, Mercedes-Benz sold 148,400 cars in the country which makes it the fastest growing premium marque in the Chinese market.
