It is a well known fact – only one thing can really make a Formula One driver nervous when it comes to racing action – being driven around by someone else!
That is exactly what happened to Nico recently, but luckily for him, that someone happened to be racing enthusiast and Argentinean international footballer Sergio Agüero.
Sergio recently won Puma ‘Race Off’, a competition during which Nico challenged some of the best sportsmen to beat him in our simulator. Nico set the bar quite high with a 1:21:05 around the legendary Monza track, before Sergio proved to be the fastest of all challengers with a pretty impressive time of 1:22:58.
His reward? Sergio was brought to the famous Donington Park Racing Circuit in the UK where Nico started by giving him a trajectory lesson, before the two swapped seats – and car! – only for Sergio to show his driving skills onboard the impressive Mercedes C 63 AMG!
But the day wasn’t over, and Nico decided to treat his guest with a final surprise… This time in the passenger seat, Sergio experienced the power of the Mercedes AMG DTM car, whilst Nico was giving it everything, or, as he calls it, the “full attack” mod.
“I was very happy to win the PUMA Race Off challenge and prove how fast I am in an F1 simulator, and today I showed Nico Rosberg how fast I can be on a real track” said Sergio at the end of the day. “His driving lesson was pretty boring to be honest so I thought I’d show him how to really drive, but then I have to say in the Mercedes AMG DTM car he impressed me a lot. He’s probably nearly as quick as me!”
Nico added “Sergio sure knows how to drive. In the Mercedes C 63 AMG car he flew around the track and handled the car really well, so full respect to him for that. I was a bit surprised how good he was. He’s a great guy but I didn’t want him getting too cocky so I enjoyed showing him what I could do in the Mercedes AMG DTM car. Now he knows what real racing is all about!”
