The visit rounded out what has been a busy and comprehensive fortnight of activations for PETRONAS in Malaysia, which included Valtteri’s visit to the new Pengerang Integrated Complex prior to the race weekend in Singapore.
Having hosted a Q&A session with the Young Professional Club, a group of future stars and high achievers from PETRONAS, Lewis headed to the 41st Floor of the Towers to participate in the regional launch of the new PETRONAS Syntium with °CoolTech™, where he discussed the importance of the team’s partnership with PETRONAS and the constant strive for performance with their fuels and lubricants.
The day wrapped up with the launch of the new Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC in Malaysia at the Galeri PETRONAS, which included a press conference with Lewis and photo opportunity with the car.
“It’s always great to be back in Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur,” Lewis said. “I always get such a warm welcome in the country and at the PETRONAS Twin Towers. There’s always a lot of ground to cover on my visits to Malaysia, as I want to catch-up with as many of my team mates here in Kuala Lumpur as possible, it’s been a fun day meeting lots of people and learning more and more about the work PETRONAS do.
“Malaysia is an important place for me. I’ve always enjoyed coming here, my first time was back in 2007. Malaysian people are incredibly sweet and kind. I’ve never met a Malaysian person who wasn’t smiling or being positive.
“And then to join the PETRONAS family in 2013 was amazing. They are constantly evolving, pushing the brand and growing. That’s important to us and to our partnership, because we’re pushing the boundaries on the track and we need our partners and the technology we use to be doing the same.”
