As an Industrial Placement in Race Strategy and Race Engineering:
We have two exciting opportunities for a current university student to join either the Race Engineering or Race Strategy Team on an Industrial Placement. The destination will be an outcome of the assessment and selection process.
The successful candidates will work as part of the race team running support systems and providing analysis of data for both race and test events. Outside of these events the successful candidates will contribute towards development and automation of tools used within the race team.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide race and test support, factory based, for all events during the year
Assist with pre- and post-event analysis tasks for each event covering data and competitor information
Run and monitor a range of software systems during race and test events, including input parameterisation
Assist with live analysis and support during free-practice, qualifying and races
Carry out ad-hoc tasks, for example investigating trends in data or opponent behaviour
Develop and automate tools and analyse routines in Python and/or JavaScript
It does not matter whether you already have an interest in motorsport or not: we are looking for candidates who are passionate about reaching their full potential and are excited about constantly learning.
Successful candidates will:
Be currently studying a BSc/BEng or a combined undergraduate masters in MSc/Meng in Engineering/Maths/Physics/Computer Science
Have a strong background in an engineering discipline with excellent skills in Mathematics and Physics
Have at least one year remaining on your current course or be enrolled on your next course* from the point at which you start your placement with us (Please note that if you will be enrolled on a Masters or PhD course you will need to be able to evidence enrolment to confirm eligibility)
The ability to apply their reflective nature to understanding a problem and adopt a continuous improvement mindset to tasks
Flexibility in hours, enthusiasm to support F1 race weekend work is required
A ‘can do’, ‘team-playing’ attitude and the ability to work to strict deadlines under minimal supervision
Take full ownership of their work, driving projects forward with initiative and independence
Be adaptable, have a proactive mindset, a collaborative approach and thrive in a team environment
Show determination and resilience when facing challenges
Have keen attention to detail
Possess an analytical and inquisitive approach
Relish challenges and enjoy pushing for continuous improvement
