Join the Electronics Department as we take on the challenge of Formula One’s exciting new era of sustainable technical regulations.

By spending your year in industry with us, you will:

  • Apply your learning in one of the most technically demanding global sports

  • Take on responsibility as you are supported and trained throughout your year

  • Join us for a year-long placement from the end of June 2026 to the end of July 2027

  • Work in a fast-paced environment at our state-of-the-art factory in Brackley, United Kingdom

As an Industrial Placement in Electronics:

The Electronics Department at Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team covers a wide range of activities: from mechanical, electro-mechanical design and wiring harness design; to analogue and digital circuit design and PCB layout as well as system testing verification and electronic fault finding.

Industrial Placements in Electronics are flexible to suit your skills and interests. We have no fixed Industrial Placement programme: given the wide range of activities undertaken by the department, we will ensure that you spend your time working alongside staff who you are able to learn from, working in areas that inspire and motivate you. Our Industrial Placements work on projects that make a direct impacton our F1 programme, and your contribution will be critical to the ongoing success of these projects.

Successful candidates will:

  • Have an interest in at least one of these areas; mechanical or electro-mechanical design, wiring harness design, analogue, digital, RF or power electronics design, software and embedded systems, PCB design and layout, circuit testing or electronics fault finding

  • Have at least one year remaining on your current course or be enrolled on your next course* from the point at which you start your placement with us (Please note that if you will be enrolled on a Masters or PhD course you will need to be able to evidence enrolment to confirm eligibility)

  • Take full ownership of their work, driving projects forward with initiative and independence

  • Be adaptable, have a proactive mindset, a collaborative approach and thrive in a team environment

  • Show determination and resilience when facing challenges

  • Have keen attention to detail

  • Possess an analytical and inquisitive approach

  • Relish challenges and enjoy pushing for continuous improvement

Additional desirable criteria:

  • Completing a degree in an electronics or mechanical related subject

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team working ability

Skills you could gain from your placement include:

  • Designing complete electronic assemblies using CAD/PCB Layout tools

  • Designing machined and composite enclosures

  • Understanding of what it takes to create high reliability electronics in harsh environments
