About the role:

We're seeking a highly talented and motivated Graduate Software Engineer to become an integral part of our growing Race Software group. Your role will be pivotal in advancing our full stack application platform and supporting microservices, which are centered around trackside operations.

Using JavaScript with Svelte, you’ll build intuitive and highly interactive user interfaces, adeptly adjusting to emerging challenges and the dynamic demands of a Formula One season. In this fast-paced environment, your agility and creativity are essential assets, balanced by your ability to write reliable code from the outset.

You will contribute to the core functionality of our platform and back-end services using languages such as Python and Golang, as well as contributing to the ongoing maintenance of services like Redis, or our deployments on Kubernetes. If you identify opportunities for improvement, you'll be encouraged to explore and implement new technologies.

The tools you create will support critical on-track decisions and car performance optimisation, while guiding development efforts back at the factory. In exchange for your contributions, we offer avenues for professional growth, mentorship, and the opportunity to directly support the race team during live events.

Your proactivity and capacity for independent work should be complimented by your ability to seamlessly integrate with the team. You must focus on end-user requirements but have the inventiveness and foresight to consistently exceed expectations.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Build new functionality to support data analysis and enable better understanding of our race car and competitors.

  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs to deliver projects to specification.

  • Ensure sustainable integration of new code with existing systems.

  • Maintain organised code using source control and good practices.

  • Identify ways we can improve efficiency and provide the best possible service to the race team.

  • Develop your technical skills to ensure we maintain a competitive edge.

To be successful you will have:

  • Relevant degree in Computer Science or similar (2.1 minimum grade or equivalent).

  • Experience working with code bases and developing interactive applications, either on a placement scheme or in personal projects.

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Preferably also experience using a web framework such as React or Svelte.

  • Knowledge of Python and a strongly typed such as Golang, Java, C# etc.

  • Understanding of agile methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle.

  • Passionate about software development, solving complex problems and continuous improvement.

  • Customer focused with excellent communication skills.
