The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team is the esports team of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team.
Based on the premises of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, Brackley, a purpose-built esports training centre provides the team’s gamers with world class facilities and state-of-the-art equipment from our Esports partners, to develop their skills, train and compete. Being integrated into the Driver-in-Loop Simulator department, where F1 development drivers provide feedback to engineers on a virtual model of the car, the esports programme will benefit from transferable elements pertinent to optimising car set-up and honing race craft.
2020 has already seen the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team esports drivers Brendon Leigh and Bono Huis team up with F1 drivers Valtteri Bottas, Esteban Gutierrez, Anthony Davidson; Formula E drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries in order to race, win and entertain fans around the world in F1’s Virtual GP and Pro Exhibition Series; Torque Esports “The Race” All Star Series and the Formula E Unicef Race at Home Challenge.
Brendon Leigh is the two-time F1 Esports Pro Series Drivers’ World Champion, having taken the title 2017, and in 2018. The 20-year-old Brit, from Reading, started competing online on the F1 2012 game and has been doing it ever since. 66,000 people entered the first-ever F1 Esports Series in 2017 and Brendon battled through the competition to be crowned champion. He then joined Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports for the 2018 season and lead the team to the championship with seven wins in ten races. His driving style is fairly aggressive, and he prefers a bit of understeer in the car.
New to the Team for 2020, Bono’s name is well known in both the F1 Esports and the wider sim-racing community. Born and raised in Maastricht, the Netherlands, he has won the Formula Sim Racing Championship 5 times, as well as the Visa Formula E Vegas eRace in 2017. Bono has previously represented the McLaren Shadow team in the F1 Esports Series in 2018 and 2019.
In his first competitive outing with the Team, in June 2020, Bono won the Sim Masters Champion title, competing in the The Race All Star Series 2.

Simucube is a Finnish based Direct Drive system brand that offers the Ultimate experience for e-sim racers. The company's core value is to offer the best possible product for drivers that know what they want.
Simucube 2 has been built around a precision robotics grade industrial motor, electronics and software fused to form a flawless monolithic design. Everything is optimized to perform at the highest level, and with sub-millisecond latency.
Rigid mechanical coupling of the wheel is the fundamental requirement for direct drive. Simucube 2 is made to meet this requirement, even though it meant redesigning everything. Simucube Quick Release™, SQR, has zero backslashes adding zero torque artifacts. When locked-in, it equals a solid metal shaft, just like it should.
Simucube 2 works with simulator games and reconstructs the authentic environment.
Thanks to Simucube 2's dedicated processor for motor control, and another processor for interfacing the PC simulator, the ultra-low latency is stable and consistent. With Simucube's award-winning force reconstruction processing, ultra-low latency mode, and adjustable dynamic filters, the Driver can reach realism.
