• Paul Mills

Chief People Officer

Paul Mills is Chief People Officer of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, having joined in 2012 after a varied career in the automotive sector. Paul oversees the Human Resources department, bringing performance to the car through the capability and engagement of our team members.

After studying a Business degree at Bournemouth University, Paul did an MBA at Warwick Business School and followed that up with a CIPD at Swansea University.

He started out working at the Ford Motor Company in several different HR roles, before two-year stints at Siemens and Land Rover. In 2002, he moved to Jaguar Cars as an Employee Relations Manager and then made the switch to Volvo in 2004 – working as VP, People Organisation and Development in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Paul returned to the UK and to Gaydon – where he was based when he was at Land Rover – in 2006 to work for Jaguar Land Rover as Head of HR Business Partners. In 2009, he moved to the role of Head of Organisation Performance.

Since 2012, Paul has been working at the Mercedes F1 Team in Brackley. He’s always enjoyed sport and organisational performance, so what better place was there to be? Paul’s had many standout moments over the years, but one of his favourites at the team so far is the recent launch of The Mulberry STEM Academy.

When asked what he loves most about working at the team, Paul replied: “Simple - my colleagues and team-mates. They are all at the very top of their fields and are all inspiring (and challenging) to work with. I learn something from them every day.”

Away from the F1 team, he’s also recently been appointed a Trustee of the Board at RESPONSE – a charity that helps people with mental health issues and complex needs to live their lives to the full.
