OK, so you may not have missed this one! But we couldn’t not talk about the spectacular opening ceremony. Fireworks, a drone show, legendary music acts, and more. The stops were well and truly pulled out for this one. After a musical medley featuring Tiesto, Journey, John Legend plus others, the drivers were introduced in spectacular fashion…more on that below.
Walking out onto the pit straight? Driven round the track on the back of a truck? No, the drivers made their entrances via a hydraulic lift in the middle of an LED-clad float.

Whilst Wednesday’s opening ceremony officially kicked off the Las Vegas Grand Prix week, we got started a little earlier! On Tuesday, both Lewis and George headed out to the desert and ‘Speed City’, a unique pop-up hosted by Mercedes-AMG and IWC Schaffhausen. With a design panel followed by on-track performances and an incredible drone and light show, it lit up the Vegas night sky in more ways than one.
There’s been plenty of talk about the weather ahead of this weekend’s race. How cold will it get? Will drivers be able to get the tyres in their working window? One thing we didn’t have down on the bingo card though: rain. And boy did it rain on Wednesday!
Still, it at least gave us a few stunning images!
We were going to title this ‘The King Meets Elvis’. But in Las Vegas, there really is only one King….or so we thought! Toto, along with Susie, was greeted by one of the infamous Elvis Presley impersonators that dot the city – then George got to meet a whole host of them!
It’s become a viral sensation since opening in September this year. And the Sphere showed its support for the team ahead of the weekend. Keep an eye out for it in the coverage as the track action gets underway.
The collab we never knew we needed until it happened! Lewis and Roscoe will be joining the Fortnite world as part of its ‘Icon Series’. Truly iconic!
You may have seen a few comparisons between the Las Vegas circuit and a certain ruddy-cheeked animal owned by Homer Simpson. Well, our engineers made sure Lewis could study the racing lines at any moment with a new screensaver.
One of the benefits of being such a global sport is that we have the chance to meet and inspire kids from across the world. This weekend in Las Vegas is no different. Children from the local Helen Marie Elementary School had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to speak and ask questions of our seven-time World Champion.
