Success for Junior Driver Alex Powell sees him move up to F4 with Prema Racing.
Mercedes Junior Driver Alex Powell will join Prema Racing’s Formula 4 programme full-time for the 2024 season after impressing this year in karting.
The 16-year-old will take part in the Italian F4 Championship and the Euro 4 Championship.
Alex has already had a taste of Italian F4 after competing with Prema in the final two rounds of this season, with a best finish of P6.
He has been part of our Junior Programme since 2019 and has enjoyed a successful past few years in karting.
“I’m happy to continue my journey with Prema Racing, since I started with them earlier this year in karting,” the Jamaican American racer said.
“We finished off a great karting career and I look forward to continuing developing as a single seater driver with this incredible team.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity and I will continue to do my best with the amazing support of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Junior Programme.“
Alex’s success this year impressed Prema and he has also raced on the Abu Dhabi GP support bill in the non-championship F4 UAE Trophy round, finishing P6 and P7 in the two races.

“We followed him during his early years, and we were delighted to welcome him to our new karting team for 2023.
“When he made the step up to cars, he was impressive despite the steep learning curve and made solid improvements every time he went on track.
