A new era of regulations means a whole new host of F1 terms to get to grips with.

Want to know what’s taking the place of DRS, or how drivers will keep the brand-new 2026 Power Unit fully charged? We’ve got you covered….

Overtake Mode:

Drivers can use Overtake Mode when less than a second behind the car in front to deploy extra power to help them overtake.

The replacement for DRS is designed to aid on-track passing and can be used all at once or across lap to help gain a position.

Boost Mode:

Designed as a driver-operated energy deployment tool from the Energy Recovery System (ERS), Boost Mode gives those behind the wheel maximum power from the engine and battery at the push of a button, no matter where they are on track.

This will help a driver attack the car in front or defend from the car behind.

Active Aero:

Designed for Corner and Straight mode, Active Aero will enablestrategic adaptability by maximising full usage of the car’s power through greater on track grip.

This will be done through dynamically adjustable angles of the front and rear wing elements in specific high-speed sections.

Recharge:

Drivers can Recharge their battery with recovered energy from braking, on throttle lift at the end of straights and even corners where only part power is applied.
