George: Abu Dhabi 'One of My Best Races of the Season'

It's always good to end a season on a high note, and that's exactly what George did in Abu Dhabi.

A measured drive to P3 - his second podium of the season and 10th with the team - was a strong way to close out 2023, helping us pip Ferrari to second in the Constructors' standings as a result.

George was understandably delighted and pleased to have played his part in helping everyone at Brackley and Brixworth have reason to celebrate on Sunday night.

"I'm really happy to have brought it over the line, that was one of my best races of the season and I'm proud to finish this way.

"The team have worked so hard, it would have been a shame for the season to end that way [P3 in the Constructors']. To have made the difference this weekend means I can leave Abu Dhabi with my head held high."

It was a positive way for George to sign off a self-proclaimed 'scrappy' season, and the best way to go into a winter break that will require maximum effort from everyone back home.

"The team have put so much effort in. Bahrain was a real shock for us because we were so far off the pace.

"It wasn't looking good, but we made some great steps and some great progress. We need to raise the bar again, and that's what I am going to work on for next year.

"I'm confident we can make steps forward."

George will now look forward to the time away from the track more than most, after struggling through the Abu Dhabi weekend with illness.

"I've never had a race like this before. I was coughing every single lap, it was super uncomfortable!"
