Esports Team Signs Pro Series Star Marcel Kiefer

The Team is delighted to welcome three-time F1 Esports Pro Series race winner Marcel Kiefer to its driver roster

Marcel Kiefer has competed in every season of the F1 Esports Pro Series and joins the Team from Red Bull Racing Esports.

The 24-year-old, from Karlsruhe in Germany, has a strong pedigree in F1 Esports. The inaugural Pro Series in 2017 proved the motivation for Kiefer to get into sim racing in a serious way. Having only bought a wheel and pedals four weeks before qualification closed, he defied the odds to make it into the top-40 fastest drivers and reach the live semi-finals in London.

He returned in 2018 with the Force India F1 Esports Team finishing fifth overall. A maiden victory came in the 2019 series with an impressive victory at Silverstone; this precipitated a move to Red Bull Esports for 2020. Kiefer's most successful campaign to date followed with another race win, along with six other podium finishes, netting third in the Drivers' Championship and helping his team secure the Constructors' Championship.

A third victory followed in 2021 and he now joins the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Esports Team roster for this year's F1 Esports Pro Series.

Kiefer said: "I was always a big Mercedes fan growing up. Having supported the team within F1 and DTM when I was a kid, I can't believe I will now get to drive for them within Esports. It's a huge privilege to represent the Mercedes-AMG brand in the F1 Esports Pro Series. I can't wait to begin working with the Team, kick off the new season and do my absolute best to bring success."

Oliver MacFarlane, Head of Esports for Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring Marcel Kiefer to the team for 2023. We know only too well from the battles we have had with him over the past few years how quick he can be. He brings a wealth of experience of F1 Esports and will challenge the team to continue to push for ultimate performance."
