George celebrates a century of Grands Prix for the Team in Barcelona this weekend. To mark the occasion, we’re throwing it back to some of his best drives and highlighting the memorable moments of a sublime Mercedes career so far.

Sakhir 2020
In a Formula 1 season unlike any other, George (then driving for Williams) deputised for an unwell Lewis Hamilton and immediately felt at home in the W11. He qualified less than 0.03 seconds behind experienced team-mate Valtteri Bottas, completing a front-row lockout.
The Grand Prix was run on an alternative, shortened layout at the Bahrain International Circuit, and George handled the unfamiliar challenges and chaotic race conditions with aplomb. Leading from the first turn, pit stop struggles late in the race and a heartbreaking puncture denied George his maiden Grand Prix victory, settling for a P9 finish and his first World Championship points.
São Paulo 2022
Heading to Brazil, George had already claimed seven podiums in his first full season with the Team, but a greater prize was just around the corner.
Starting in P1 for Sunday’s Grand Prix by virtue of his Sprint victory on Saturday, George kept his cool up front while havoc unfolded behind him. Besides a brief stint after his first pit stop, he led every lap of the Grand Prix to take the victory which had eluded him two years prior.
Belgium 2024
The term ‘tyre whisperer’ gets thrown around a fair bit in F1, but George earned the title once and for all on this sunny day in the Ardennes Forest.
Early in the race, George realised before any of his rivals that tyre degradation was less extensive than predicted. His one stop on lap 10 set in motion a mighty stint, holding off Lewis in the final laps to take a heroic victory at Spa.
He was sadly disqualified for an underweight car, but the mastery of this drive remains.
Canada 2025
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has become something of a home-away-from-home for George. Holding off Red Bull’s Max Verstappen on Saturday, he converted his pole position start into a sensational win in the Montreal heat.
Singapore 2025
In contrast to Canada, Singapore has historically not been especially kind to George. A pit lane start and a difficult race in 2022 was followed by a devastating final-lap crash in 2023, ending his hopes of a podium finish.
Everything changed in 2025. As in Canada, he took pole ahead of Verstappen on Saturday and comfortably managed the slippery conditions and tyre wear to take a well-deserved victory in Marina Bay.
Australia 2026
F1’s new era began at Albert Park earlier this year and George was perfectly poised to start the season in style. After comfortably taking pole ahead of team-mate Kimi Antonelli, a slow start off the line saw him surrender his lead to the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.
An exhilarating duel followed, a brilliant example of the new overtake mode in action where George and Charles fought for the lead across several laps. After two VSC deployments, George and the debuting W17 showed their true pace and led Kimi home for a brilliant one-two finish Down Under.
