Toto Looking Forward to ‘Stern Test’ At Imola

The European leg of the 2024 season begins this weekend in Imola with the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The race will form the first part of a double header with Monaco seven days later.

Toto and the team head into the second quarter of the season aiming to build on the progression made with W15 in the first six races.

“The first six races have not been straightforward, but we have built a clear understanding of where we need to improve and shaped a clear path forward to tackle that,” said Toto.

“It will be several races before we see this bear fruit, but everyone is working hard to bring them as soon as possible.”

Miami saw the first update package introduced to W15, and Imola will see further changes introduced to our 2024 race car.

“We will be looking to maximise the package we have, and we are bringing some more updates to Imola,” said Toto.

“Hopefully they push us in the right direction.”

After two Sprint weekends, F1 returns to its regular schedule at Imola, providing the team with all of the usual challenges to adapt to and be ready for.

“It affords us more time to refine the set-up, but Imola is a demanding circuit that challenges both the car and the driver,” said Toto.

“It has several fast and flowing sections, but some low-speed corners too and a tricky, bumpy surface. It’s narrow, which makes overtaking difficult, and has plenty of elevation.

“All that combines to provide a stern test and one we are looking forward to.”

There will also be much to reflect on for the team when they arrive at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

Imola is a demanding circuit that challenges both the car and the driver.

“We will of course take the time along with the rest of the paddock to reflect and remember Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna, who we lost 30 years ago,” says Toto.

As a team, we will also be marking the 100th anniversary of Mercedes’ victory in the 1924 Targa Florio, and as Toto explains, it promises to be a unique trip down memory lane.

“The Mercedes-Benz Classic team have done a superb job restoring the original car and we can’t wait to see it running to the Trofeo Bandini awards on Wednesday – and then on track during the weekend.”
