The Baku City Street Circuit has become a modern day classic on the calendar. It features high-speed straights, a tricky first sector and the iconic castle section in the middle sector.

It’s a race that has seen many memorable moments for our team. In 2017, there was a contentious clash between Lewis and Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel under the Safety Car before Valtteri took second by pipping Lance Stroll at the line.

It was heartbreak for VB in 2018 as a late race puncture denied him victory. The team still took the win as Lewis was on hand to pick up the pieces. A 1-2 followed in 2019 before it was Lewis’ turn to suffer in the closing stages as an accidental hit of the ‘brake magic’ button on a restart denied him another win.

George meanwhile has twice stepped onto the podium, finishing third in 2022 and then last year. Kimi also made it onto the rostrum in 2024, taking third in the F2 Feature race.

Reflecting on the announcement, Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: “There’s an incredible energy to the city of Baku and since our first Grand Prix here in 2016 Formula 1 has consistently received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the people of Azerbaijan. The circuit is unique, with technical sections and long straights that run through the stunning shoreline and historic old town, delivering an eventful and entertaining race every year.”

We second that! Well done Baku!
