After a rain-delayed, wet-dry, bittersweet race last time out in Malaysia for the Bahrain Grand Prix, Formula 1 heads to Singapore for a very different challenge. Marina Bay brings the heat and humidity we expected and with the city's first Sprint weekend, there is less time than usual to get to grips with the conditions. Rain is far less of a threat than it was at Sepang, but this is the tropics, so we'll keep an eye on the sky.
Here's the weekend's weather watch:
Friday: Hot and humid for Practice 1, with temperatures of 32C feeling more like 35C. A dry evening is expected for Sprint Qualifying, with little chance of rain.
Saturday: Rain is possible early in the morning, but the forecast is for it to clear before the Sprint race, with only a slight chance of a shower lingering. Temperatures of 30C for the Sprint, easing a little for Qualifying under the lights, with humidity remaining high over 75% all day.
Sunday: A similar story for the Grand Prix: a hot and humid day in Marina Bay, with highs of 31C feeling more like 34C. The Grand Prix itself is forecast to be mostly dry, with a small chance of a passing shower in the evening. With the race starting around 29C easing slightly as the night goes on, but humidity is set to stay high at around 75-77%, so it won’t be feeling much cooler in the cockpit.
