After the humidity and Sprint-weekend pressure of Singapore, Formula 1 heads to Texas for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas. It’s a standard weekend with three practice sessions and the forecast is much kinder, largely dry, pleasantly warm and far less humid than last time out.
Here’s the weekend’s weather watch:
Friday: A crisp, clear start to the weekend, with temperatures in the low teens first thing in the morning. By Practice 1 it’s a comfortable mid-20s under mostly sunny skies and the track should keep warming through the afternoon, with temperatures reaching around 28C for Practice 2. The air is dry and there is next to no chance of rain, so the drivers should get plenty of uninterrupted running.
Saturday: Another bright day, though with a bit more cloud around than on Friday. Practice 3 should be a similar mid-20s before the afternoon warms up to around 29C, the warmest point of the weekend, just in time for Qualifying. There is a slight chance of a shower and a touch more breeze but nothing that should cause real problems for the all important grid deciding laps.
Sunday: A cooler mostly overcast day for the Grand Prix, with the sun mostly hidden behind the clouds. Temperatures will reach around 26C by the afternoon start and a light breeze keeps the conditions comfortable. There is a small chance of a passing shower, but the day looks mostly dry, so the track should stay in a similar state throughout the race.
