Mikaela – better known as @SheLovesVrooms on social media – grew up watching racing in the US thanks to her late father, Chip.

He was a big NASCAR and IndyCar fan, but F1 wasn’t as popular as it is now. However, that all changed for Mikaela in 2011 when she first watched the SENNA documentary in theatres and instantly had a bond to the championship and all those involved in it.

She’s been lucky enough to visit the Miami Grand Prix twice and will be in the grandstands again this weekend. From an amazing atmosphere to delicious delicacies, and scooping out the best seats in the house, Mikaela knows all there is to know about one of F1’s most unique events.

“Leaning in to What Makes Miami, Miami’

In 2024, 275,000 fans attended the Miami spectacle over three days; a new record for the circuit.

“My husband and I attended the race together on Friday with Campus Passes, which is Miami's version of a General Admission ticket,” Mikaela explains.

“I remember feeling surprised at how clean the grounds were and by all of the delicious food and beverage offerings. That's probably where Miami stands out to me in terms of fan experience compared to other circuits I've visited - the offerings are really impressive.

“I love how much they celebrate the local culture and lean into what makes Miami, Miami!

“There's something that's undeniably cool about attending a race in person because you finally get to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of Formula 1 in all its glory.

“I've never personally made it onto the fake harbour, but it really is such a fun touch! Similar to other American races, there tends to be a large celebrity presence at the Miami Grand Prix. As someone who enjoys pop culture, I don't mind this and enjoy seeing everyone who is there!”

Access All Areas

Racing around the Hard Rock Stadium, the home field for the Miami Dolphins, is a pretty cool flex for Formula 1. When inside the facility, you’re not only surrounded by miles of Marine Blue colouring, but you’re also in very close proximity to the paddock – a unique offering in Miami.

“I think the Hard Rock Stadium has some awesome views of the circuit, which is amazing, because you have access to this as a Campus Pass holder. I really enjoyed being able to sit in the stadium that overlooks the paddock and then taking a short walk to watch cars - on track - for real!”

Race Weekend Essentials

Racing in Miami is an awesome adventure, but it is important to be prepared, especially if you’re not a local.

“I suggest bringing some water, and some sort of hydration mixer, because it gets REALLY hot in Miami. The UV index is no joke, and the humidity makes it even more challenging. Besides water, I always bring a small portable fan, tons of sunscreen, a hat, and comfy shoes.

“In all of the races I've been to Miami, it hasn't rained, but the Florida weather can be unpredictable, so I'd check the weather like you're a race strategist on track!”

As well as preparing for the weather, traveling to the circuit requires some forward thinking.

“There's a few options to get to the circuit in Miami; first is parking, but this must be secured in advance; second is a rideshare like Uber or Lyft; and third is finding a shuttle service.

“Many neighbouring lots and hotels will have shuttles to the track, along with Brightline - which is Miami's intercity train. I've heard a lot of positive things about Brightline, which has a station in Aventura that provides free shuttles to and from the circuit.”

Fan Friendly

Once inside the circuit, there’s no shortage of places to go and things to see.

“There are some really great activations in the Campus where you can hang out and relax with friends (or solo!) including shaded areas with ample seating, water refill stations, and tons of food/beverage options around the circuit.

“As I mentioned before, you also have access to the Stadium, which has seating that overlooks the paddock - it's a great place to relax between sessions or if you want to sit, there are large screens which are broadcasting in real time.”
