Doriane 'Excited' for F1 Academy Season Opener

The 2024 F1 Academy season begins this weekend in Jeddah, as part of the support bill for Formula 1's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Doriane Pin, our Junior Driver, will be representing the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team in the 2024 series with the support of Prema Racing.

"I'm really excited to finally start the F1 Academy season," she said. "I've been waiting for this moment for a long time and it's finally here."

The 20-year-old Frenchwoman is racing in the all-female championship after making the move up to single-seaters at the end of last year.

Since then, she's won races in both the F4 South East Asia championship and F4 UAE and will be complimenting her F1 Academy season with an FIA World Endurance Championship campaign with Iron Dames in GT3.

After a positive test in Jeddah a few weeks ago, she'll be back at the track this weekend, competing in the season-opener.

"After a good winter season and races in the UAE, I feel ready and prepared for the F1 Academy season," Doriane added. "Obviously the two official tests have been good as well, in Barcelona and Jeddah.

"I think we've already completed some good work and a good base with the team. I'm really looking forward to it."

When will Doriane be racing?

The weekend begins on Thursday, 7 March with a 40-minute practice session at 14:05 local time (11:05 GMT) in Jeddah, before Qualifying later in the day at 21:30 (18:30 GMT Friday).

There are then two races. The first is on Friday, 8 March at 15:10 local time (12:10 GMT) and the second is on Saturday, 9 March at 15:05 (12:05 GMT). Each race lasts 30 minutes.
