From Melbourne to Brands Hatch: Busy Week for our Juniors

There’s been plenty going on for our Junior Programme over the past week, across various series’ in many different locations.

So, here’s a rundown of what they’ve been up to.

F1 wasn’t the only racing category competing around Albert Park in Australia last weekend. Formula 2 was also in action and Andrea Kimi Antonelli was behind the wheel of his Prema for Round 3 of the 2024 season.

Kimi’s weekend got off to a strong start with P2 in qualifying, securing his first front row start in F2. Unfortunately, in the Sprint, he spun into the gravel during an intense battle for the top five positions and was forced to retire from the race.

However, on Sunday morning he secured strong points in the main Feature race by finishing fourth, moving him up to ninth in the Drivers’ Championship.

Elsewhere, Alex Powell was testing for Italian F4 at Imola with Prema. Thirty-eight drivers completed the test in total and it was a very competitive field.

The American Jamaican felt it was an encouraging couple of days behind the wheel and one of his strongest F4 tests so far. There were plenty of learnings to take from it and he finished the test in the top 10 on the timesheets.

Yuanpu Cui was also testing F4 machinery, this time at Brands Hatch before his maiden season in British F4 and the Chinese racer topped the timesheets with Argenti Motorsport. It was another valuable test for Yuanpu as he gains experience behind the wheel of single seaters.

We also had our karters competing over the weekend, too. Luna Fluxa and Kenzo Craigie were racing in the first round of the FIA European Karting Championship in Valencia.

Luna had a very positive weekend in the OK Senior class, finishing in the top five across her heats and qualifying rounds. She finished P11 in the final to wrap up a good weekend for her. Kenzo also showed good speed in OK Junior.
