A pole position and eventual fourth place finish at the Mondkart.com World Championship final in Kristianstad in Sweden was the highlight, where he finished just in front of fellow Mercedes junior Kenzo Craigie.

James joined our junior programme midway through 2024, claiming P2 in the OK Junior category at the World Championships in September of that season, before winning the Champions of the Future Academy Program title in the same category a couple of months later.

“I’m proud to be part of this team, and being named Rookie of the Year at the FIA Karting Awards for my achievements last year is an incredible moment,” said James.

“Finishing as Vice European Champion and starting on pole position at the World Championship were major milestones in my 2025 campaign.

“I’m excited to build on this momentum and achieve even greater success in 2026.”

The FIA Karting Awards in Paris provide a fittingly grand backdrop to celebrate the previous year of racing, bringing together champions, winners and standout competitors at the Place Vendôme in the heart of the French capital.

Akbar Ebrahim, FIA Karting Commission President, said: “The FIA Karting Awards this evening were a fitting celebration of the exceptional performances, determination and sacrifice that made 2025 an iconic year for karting.

“My congratulations to all the champions and winners who have all displayed great talent and promise.

“As we look to the upcoming 2026 season I am confident this year will be a transformational year for FIA Karting.”
