In January 2026, we were delighted to spend the day at two schools in Birmingham to help launch the second year of our collaboration with STAR Academies, supporting their Future Engineers Academy initiative.

Over the past 12 months, the programme has helped to engage over 1,300 pupils from underrepresented backgrounds by delivering world-class engineering experiences to inspire the next generation to think bigger and aim higher.

2026 will allow those involved to improve confidence, collaboration and communication through workshops, engagement with mentors and independent learning.

There will be even more opportunities to build, code, and create, while design competitions and challenge presentations – judged by motorsport engineers – will put their skills to the test.

In its first year, the Future Engineers Academy put STEM into top gear across Star schools, offering pupils hands-on workshops, engineering challenges, and enrichment activities, supported by programme delivery partners Motivez and Driven By Us.

The highlight of last season saw the pupils design and build their own go-kart, which was on display to this year's cohort during the launch.

Encouraging the next generation of engineering talent into Formula 1 forms a major part of our diversity and inclusion aims, as we look to maximise our on-track performance in the years to come.
