Formula 1 shifts to the vibrant metropolis of Mexico City for Round 19 of the season. The highest altitude race of the schedule at a whopping 2,200 metres above sea level provides unique challenges for driver and vehicle alike – and also plays into the weather conditions.
Dry and sunny conditions are forecast throughout the majority of the weekend – with the guaranteed constant of noticeably thinner air at altitude as drivers navigate their time on track.
Here’s the forecast over the weekend in Mexico City:
Friday: The weekend starts under pleasant sunshine with mild cloud cover, reaching temperatures of 21C by FP1 and 23C by FP2. There is a minor chance of rain between 14:00 and 17:00 (sitting around 20%) which may impact running in FP2, but the more likely outcome is sunny intervals and a light breeze throughout the duration of the day.
Saturday: Conditions look close to perfect on Saturday, with FP3 commencing under a sunny sky with little to no wind at a temperature of 22C, before the breeze and temperature both rise slightly for Qualifying. The risk of rain is almost non-existent, with a top of 25C expected for the first runs.
Sunday: Race day continues in a similar vein to Saturday, with temperatures sitting around 24C for lights out, with glorious sunshine and the consistent gentle breeze expected throughout the duration of the race. Visibility is forecast to be excellent, with no rain expected once again.
