What’s the Weather Forecast for the 2026 Belgian GP?

After back-to-back weekends of warm, settled conditions in Austria and at Silverstone, Formula 1 arrives at Spa-Francorchamps to find a rather different picture.

The Ardennes is preparing to remind the paddock why Belgium has a reputation as one of the most unpredictable venues on the calendar, with rain a genuine factor across the weekend.

Changeable weather is nothing new at Spa. The circuit's unique geography, stretching across a valley in the Ardennes hills, means conditions can vary dramatically from one end of the track to the other and from one hour to the next.

Crucially, the forecast has already shifted considerably since the start of the week, when rain was expected on all three days, and teams will be monitoring updates closely as the weekend approaches.

With a standard race weekend format – three practice sessions, Qualifying, and a 44-lap Grand Prix – teams will have more time to gather data than they did at Silverstone, but the shifting forecast is always one to keep an eye on.

Here’s the Weekend’s Weather Watch

Friday: The highest rain risk of the weekend, with a greater chance of showers during the afternoon as a weather system sweeps across the Ardennes. Temperatures are expected to reach around 23C, with north-westerly winds providing a tailwind along the Kemmel Straight for FP1 and FP2.

Saturday: A significantly improved picture, with the current forecast showing a small chance of rain for FP3 and Qualifying. Temperatures will be slightly cooler at around 20C, with winds strengthening during the afternoon session.

Sunday: Race day carries similar weather conditions to Saturday with a small chance of rain, temperatures sticking to around 20C and some windier conditions in the afternoon. Lights out for the Belgian Grand Prix at 14:00 BST.
