The Role

We are seeking a Head of Electronics to lead our Electronic design and Development group within the drawing office, reporting to the Engineering Director.

This is a key position within the organisation; therefore attention to detail and a highly proactive approach are critical in this role. In addition, the successful candidate will provide motivational day to day leadership, promote collaboration with other groups and define resource/project allocation within this team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the electronics group, including recruitment, objective setting, performance reviews and the future development of the group.

  • Managing proactive research and development of new electronics technology, for the benefit of the car and wider organisation, such that we remain at the cutting edge in this area.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the rest of the company.

  • Overall responsibility for reliability in the electronics area, working with the Design Office to a ‘Right First Time’ approach.

  • Overseeing all planning and project management activities within the Electrical group, collaborating closely with the group’s Project Engineer, Production and Planning to ensure designs are delivered on time and on target.

  • Ensure systems and assemblies have the correct level of validation applied before being dispatched for race / test use (including FIA legality and homologation requirements).• FIA/FOM Liaison including ESAC meeting attendance.

  • Working closely with the Trackside Electronics group, to improve performance and reliability.

  • Liaising with HPP to develop a holistic approach to electronics across the car.

About You

Essential

  • Electrical/Electronic engineering degree or similar qualification.

  • Proven high level F1 electronics development experience, with full knowledge of F1 car electrical layouts and their fault resolution.

  • Can-Do attitude to delivering challenging projects in tight time scales using innovative planning and approaches to achieve more with the available time and resource.

  • Excellent programme management skills coupled with proven risk management techniques.

  • High level of diligence and attention to detail when reviewing schemes, drawings and plans.

  • Meticulous approach to creating and maintaining documentation and processes that are effective in delivering a car to a defined specification in a short period of time.

  • Experience in leading and developing a high performing, multi disciplined team of people.

  • Excellent communication and proven ability to collaborate at all levels.
