Requirements for the role:
You must have an existing and valid right to work for the duration of the apprenticeship in the UK. Applicants who require a visa to work in the UK should be aware that our apprenticeships are ineligible for sponsorship.
Availability to complete the level 3 apprenticeship up to a 42-month duration.
Evidence of having been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to taking up the apprenticeship in September this year or candidates who qualify for an exemption as stated here:Apprenticeship funding rules - GOV.UK
At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with results of 5 and above. Please note that three of the GCSEs must be Maths, Science and English.
Ability to be onsite five days per week, either at our factory in Brackley or at the apprenticeship learning provider (located in Milton Keynes or Coventry).
We will check you meet the criteria as part of the application process as this will need to be evidenced before you can start the programme.
About the role:
We are seeking a Welding & Fabrication Apprentice to join our skilled team, producing precision assemblies and components for our Formula 1 car. Throughout the Apprenticeship, the successful candidate will develop advanced fabrication and welding skills, with a strong focus on aluminium TIG welding, precision sheet metal work, and general fabrication. Training will take place at our Formula 1 HQ in Brackley, supported by additional learning at a Technical College
Key Skills to be developed during the Apprenticeship include:
Understanding and application of TIG welding techniques, with a specific emphasis on aluminium welding to aerospace and motorsport standards.
Experience with MIG and jewellery welding.
Sheet metal fabrication.
Reading, interpreting, and working to technical drawings, and welding symbols.
Use of fabrication and measuring tools including bandsaws, guillotines, rollers, jigs, and inspection equipment.
Understanding material types, heat distortion, joint preparation, and welding sequences to achieve consistent quality.
Developing professional, collaborative relationships within the Fabrication Shop, Machine Shop and across departments, including Design and Quality.
Safe working practices in line with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and specific departmental risk assessments.
