PETRONAS Lubricant International (PLI) has been on the lookout for a new Trackside Fluid Engineer in recent months, searching for candidates capable of providing expert trackside technical support to Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team.
The PTFE search required applicants to go through a rigorous series of rounds, testing their technical, inter-personal, communication and teamwork skills - which concluded with an interview with PLI Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Giuseppe D'Arrigo.
And now the winner of the search has been announced...
En De Liow, from Malaysia, emerged from the process as the successful candidate and will be joining last year's winner Stephanie Travers as PETRONAS's Trackside Fluid Engineers for the 2020 season.
The Automotive Engineer will be travelling to every race on this year's F1 calendar, providing crucial fluid-related support services to the No.44 and No.77 cars - operating from PETRONAS's compact trackside lab.
The PTFEs conduct on-site performance analysis of the fluids from within the F1 Power Unit, providing the team with real-time input on the health of the engine's mechanical parts.
On his new role, En De said: "It is not often that you are presented with opportunities such as this and I am very grateful to be given this chance. Working in Formula 1 has been a life-long dream and I look forward to learning and growing with the team and giving my best throughout this new and incredible experience."
